Introductory Hearth Cooking Workshop

Foodways historian Stacy Booth will be running an Introductory Hearth Cooking Workshop at the Lafayette-Durfee House on Saturday, February 10, 2024, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. This workshop is open to reenactors who wish to hone their skills in the hearth and with their own commissary.
The goals of this workshop will be to teach 18th century cooking techniques with hands on practice that can be used in the field as well as demonstrating how to discuss/display 18th century food to the public.
We will prepare several receipts together using the cooking methods of roasting, baking, stewing, and frying. And the culmination of this is a feast for everyone to enjoy!
This workshop is limited to 6 participants and there is a $75 fee.
This is open to new and seasoned cooks. Dress in comfortable modern clothing with closed toe shoes.
Stacy Booth is a foodways historian with over 15 years of hearth and campfire cooking experience. She currently reenacts with Col. Bailey’s 2nd MA Regiment.
